Cornelius Griffin (pronounced /corn-ELL-yus/) (born December 3, 1976 in Troy, Alabama) is a American football player in the National Football League who currently plays defensive tackle for the Washington Redskins.
Griffin was selected in the second round of the 2000 NFL Draft by the New York Giants, where he played for four seasons. He was signed by the Giants' NFC East-rival Washington Redskins as an unrestricted free agent on March 3, 2004, during the 2004 offseason.
He had his best season as a pro in 2004, recording 96 tackles (66 solo) and six sacks. He has compiled 22.5 sacks with 352 tackles (249 solo) at either left or right tackle during his career. He is a strong, skilled and durable lineman who can both stop the run and rush the passer.
