Copeland, Florida

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Copeland, FL is a small town at the junction of Florida State Road 29 and Wj Janes Memorial Scenic Drive in Collier County. Its neighbor is Lee Cypress to the west on Wj Janes Memorial Senic Drive

It is not a town but a community. There are about 12 streets or roads that make up the area. It is about five miles north of the real town of Everglades City, FL which was the county seat before 1960. It is at the junction of SR29 and Janes Scenic Dr. which is now virtually impassable due to the Everglades Restoration Project. Deputies and other state law officers in the area will cite you for violating the panther speed zone and anything else because of the inordinate amount of traffic related deaths in the US 41 and I 75, Alligator Alley area. It is common for people to run out of gas and break down in the area because they have not taken into account the remoteness of the area and anticipated the rural scarceness of resources, not to mention the expense.
