About Me:I am a Canadian by birth, a Hoosier by choice, and Irish by ancestry (However I suspect my great grandmother may have been Scottish and afraid to admit it, can't really blame her though, who'd want to admit that!). I am married to a lovely lady who is horribly French (which I don't hold against her), and as of yet I am childless. (My children would be half French, not sure I am ready to do that to them)
If you see these IPs: 66.38.8.229 or 66.134.12.90 - thats me! Sometimes this silly things logs me out in the middle of a big edit because I don't click "remember me" when I am at those IPs(Cause I take so long).

[edit] More About Me
[edit] My Wikilife
I describe my wikiexperience as 70% browsing and 30% editing. I read and learn much more than I contribute. I don't consider myself to be an authority on much of anything, I am more of a well informed bystander than anything else. I used to just browse and edit without a user account for over a couple years. It was not until I actually wanted to create an article in 2006 that I created this account, and then I pretty well stopped using it until 2007 when I decided to do some major contributions to regional article around me, I think a user account makes the edits more credible. :) But now I am pretty much addicted to adding.. so I guess I will keep doing so. Also, in case you had not noticed, I like fine print. I read tiny things all day and I guess I am just used to it. Besides, you can fit more on a screen that way!
[edit] Religion
I am a deep study of religions, especially protestant Christianity. I have a very wide knowledge on the subject and regularly skim religious articles.
I am very knowledgeable of branhamism and some other "odd-ball" sects of Christianity. I think it is very important to have a catalog of not just the sects but a little background information on the people involved in them and details on what sets them apart from other seemingly identical sects.
[edit] History
I also LOVE history. I try to add history sections on articles for the towns around me and other smaller things I am familiar with. I don't do much to edit the major topics I will leave that to the better historians, but if you want someone who knows a little bit about just about everything historical, I am your man. I am particularly well versed in European and Middle Eastern History from about 100CE-1825CE and especially knowledgeable of the histories of France, Britain, Moorish and Christian Spain, Italy, The Hapsburg Monarchy\Empire, The Ottoman and Seljuk Turkish Empires. I enjoy fighting arguing the Pro-Christian or Pro British\English position, as opposed to the position of the Sinister Frenchman or Murderous "Infidel". I am also (somewhat embarrassedly) fairly well versed in Latin. I do, however, find it most useful in reading many scholarly works as so many between the ancient era until the latter 1700s where at least partial Latin works.
[edit] Upcoming Wiki-Trip
[edit] Completed
New AmsterdamDue to the threat of rain of April 19th I decided to go to New Amsterdam today! (The 18th). I found alot of great info on the town and the county including a most excellent book which I hope to "Distill" into several wikipedia article during the next week. AND! I also took several photos of which I have uploaded the better ones. I stopped in Corydon on the way through and got some lovely springtime shots of the town which I have incorporated into Corydon, Indiana and Harrison County, Indiana. I meant to grab some at Hayswood Nature Preserve but it slipped my mind and I drove past it (twice) without thinking of it. I also wanted to go in the Old Capitol building to get some pics of the inside but it closes at 4, how disappointing! Maybe another day. All in all the trip was excellent. Carnegie Center My trip to the Carnegie Cennter was very interesting. The slavery exhibit was very enlightening. I got alot of good photos and info I intend to use in a couple different articles. I also got a picture of the entrance of the Edwardsville Tunnel, the longest in Indiana, on the way home. What a very profitable day! :) Charles Edward 18:47, 25 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Postponed
I have the sad news to announce the due to the freezing temperatures and near blizzard conditions (Blizzard IMHO) on Easter day and evening the cemetery of Rev Branham was completely empty as I drove by to take photos. Therefore, I lack the smoking gun to support my proposed edit on Branhamism. So now I must wait until next year, or find other means to support the categorization of the radical and reclusive sub-sect of Branhamism.
[edit] What I am Studying Now
I am currently studying the Mongolian Khanate. I am also just starting a wonderful book entitled God's Crucible on the Rise of Islam to the Fall of The Crusader Kingdom.
[edit] New Insights
The fall of the caliphate is very interesting! It certainly adds a good level of understanding to the basic problems of the Islamic world. The Hashmite gave way to the Umayyad who gave way to the Abassid. Then followed up to the Ottomans, the crusader kingdom. All their differences. The splits in territory. Very interesting. What a shame the byzantines could not have held back the turks, the world would be a very different place. Now the pipinids are very intriguing too when you compare it to the remnant of the umayyad dynasty in andalusia. This is a very good book!
[edit] Banking\Lending
I feel I should not add pro-banking\lending position to articles with anything controverial, but I like the position to be known so another can.
[edit] PDLs
I am completely confounded by the editors of Pay Day Loans. Let it be known that they are completely mistaken to lump banks in with the PDL companies that now dominate the industry. The banks themselves show losses or low profitability after implementing the new FDIC regulations and guidances a few years ago and have almost entirely exited the industry which they once controlled. They are public companies, it is beyond me why the actual profit statements (numbers don't lie) and press release that say "We are not making enough money anymore, everyone wants to sue us, and oh yeah the FDIC is threatening to drop our insurance" is not sufficient to prove this? Futhermore, I asking anyone capable of math at a 4th grade level, if you charge 20 dollars for every 100 you loan, then if 20% of the loans given are not paid back - you break even, right? So by extrapolation, if you are business making a profit and you are charging that rate, then less than 20% of your customers have to be repaying their loans. Mathematics is not original research IMHO, not when your base numbers are from referenced sources. While I would not use that alone to add a statement saying "most customer repay their loans", I think that is sufficient evidence to prevent adding a remark that "most customers DO NOT repay their loan". I henceforth wash my hands of the article. Cool10191 (talk) 03:13, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Articles I watch and edit
[edit] Regional Articles
I have poured out most of my knowledge of local history. Pending a new major epiphany, I am putting my regular attention southern Indiana article on hiatus and will now focus on early Indiana History.
[edit] Religious Articles
I am watching and maintaining some oddball religious articles including:
[edit] Banking\lending
I am currently watching, but not really editing:
[edit] Historical\Biographical
This has pretty well turned into my Wikiproject Indiana. But I am still adding bits and pieces to other articles as I read books. I hope to finish my book on the crusader kingdom this month and should be able to read over those related articles and make some useful contributions. I am also still watching the napoleon related articles. I am thinking of making significant additions to the article on Fouche and Talleyrand, but I am not sure yet.

Well! I got alot of biography stuff done. I destubbed all the governors articles and wrote a few more articles other interesting Hoosiers like Christopher Harrison. I also got History of Indiana to GA status, and almost FA, but alas it failed.. just a little more work and it will be there. So NOW! I have new goal, I want to get half of the articles in "Category:Top-importance Indiana articles" to GA status. I have done substantial work to destub all but one of them - I really don't know much about northern Indiana except they are a more stuck up there.. I have moved several from stub to B.
