[edit] Date of death not 18/19 January

Some sources show him dying on 18 January ([1]; [2]), or 19 January ([3]). However, this tells us that Constans was overthrown ‘’in absentia’’ on 18 January; he was on a hunting expedition elsewhere at the time. After he learned of his deposition, “he was able to flee toward the Mediterranean, hoping to take ship to safety; Gaiso, one of Magnentius' generals, pursued him. The emperor was captured at Helena, south of Narbo near the Spanish border, where he had taken refuge in a church. He was dragged from his sanctuary and killed.” No date is given, but it was certainly considerably later than 18 or 19 January. [edit] Constans I

Considering there were two "Constans II", is there a reason this isn't at Constans I? Srnec (talk) 23:28, 25 February 2008 (UTC)
