Someone has done a real hatchet job on this page. For political reasons? Certainly, all the historical context and information on the Steel making history has gone. Almost reads as though the steelworks never existed. Dunwidda (talk) 12:44, 12 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Consett Airport
Why is there no reference to the airport? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.204.67.171 (talk) 06:43, 8 November 2007 (UTC) There is no airport in Consett. Im guessing you mean Punjab international airlines, from Consett international airport? It was an advert for crisps, by derwent valley foods. They even closed all the train stations one of which used to go all the way to Sunderland and the other to Newcastle.

Paddy McAloon is from Langley Park, not Consett.
[edit] Booming Nightlife
Consett is well known for its booming night life. Boasting a number of pubs, bars and housing four night clubs, it is a town on the up. Consett proves itself as a popular night spot for all ages from 18 - 80.
No one who as ever been to Consett would actually believe this steaming pile of crap... JW2 12:32, 27 January 2006 (UTC)

Consett does have a vibrant nightlife. They don't build a Wetherspoons just anywhere - there are only 7 in England, one or which is in Consett.
[edit] DWP Longbenton
RE: with the Department for Work and Pensions' Contributions Agency in nearby Longbenton also a major employer.
Where is the evidence of the DWP being one of the largest employers for people in Consett?
I have removed this statement as no evidence has been forthcoming. Michaeltyne 11:55, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
