Preclaiming (or conservative 2PL) and Strict execution are two independent properties of 2PL! All of the following variants are possible:

                                Strict execution
                          Yes                     No

             Yes          No deadlocks            No deadlocks
                          No cascading aborts     cascading aborts

Preclaiming

             No           deadlocks               deadlocks
                          No cascading aborts     cascading aborts
