[edit] External links
I'm creating this section to discuss the addition of external links in this article. I looked at all four of the sites previously linked, and none of them seem to comply with the external links guidelines.
There were originally four external links in this article before I removed them:
- http://www.reedpumps.com/ – sells concrete pumps but doesn't give information useful for the article, so it was purely promoting the site.
- http://forum.concretepumpingadvice.com/default.asp – forum that requires a login. Per Wikipedia:External links#Sites requiring registration, those should not be in an article unless that site is the subject of the article.
- http://www.concretepumping.com/ – a forum site, which is not an appropriate external link. Readers should not have to search through a forum to find the relevant information; also, forums are not reliable sources.
- http://www.concretepumping.com/index.php?mode=articles – This site contains a number of articles related to concrete pumping; however, the articles are very specific and designed for people using concrete pumps in specific cases. This is not useful to people who simply want information about concrete pumps. Wikipedia is not an instruction manual. Another issue with this link is that it doesn't appear to have any peer review or editorial process, which means that it is not a reliable source.
Please discuss here before adding any external links to the article. If you disagree with any of the above reasons for removing the links, this is the place to discuss it. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 17:23, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well first of all ConcretePumping.com does not require you to log in or have an account and second there is a peer review with each article. Yes these articles range from trying to help you decide if you want to buy a concrete pump to electrical problems with pumps. I personally own each article placed here and don’t mind them being referenced. In fact I use the Wikipedia software for the site and it a great work you guys are doing. The most important thing is that people who are looking up Concrete Pump should be able to find as much info as possible and that is why i point them to the 50 plus articles. The site charges no money and its even free to join if they want to join. Please take a look at the site and lets see if we can help your readers Concrete Pumping Artiles —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.89.60 (talk) 18:01, 21 January 2008

- If you own those articles, you have a conflict of interest on this topic, and I'd advise you to read Wikipedia:Conflict of interest for advise on upholding a neutral point of view here. What I think might work best in this case is this: Rather than linking directly to your site as an external link, we can use individual articles from there as references for the material given in the article. If you find information in one of your articles that confirms or verifies information given in this Wikipedia article, you can cite it as a source. This article is currently unreferenced, so whether those articles count as reliable sources or not, it will improve the quality of the article some to have sources for its information.
Keep in mind, though, that all of this is probably only temporary; as you can see from the notice at the top of this page, I've requested a translation to replace this article. This is because the Hebrew Wikipedia has a much more complete and well-written article on this topic. Once the translation of the Hebrew article into English is complete, most of the current article will most likely be replaced. Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 18:39, 21 January 2008 (UTC)

Ok sounds good but if you look at the stuff that is in Hebrew it looks like a add for one company. It looks to me like somebody from that company is doing the work, at least my stuff is independent of a manufacture. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.89.60 (talk) 20:57, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Every picture they use if from one company I bet we have more pumps in my state than this guys has in whole country. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.89.60 (talk) 21:06, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- Nothing says we have to use the same images they do. Once the translation is complete, and even before then, we can still change the wording or switch to a different image. I don't know Hebrew, so I can't tell if there's any problems with their article. From looking at the images the Hebrew Wikipedia uses on that article, though, it sure doesn't look like they're all from one company. There's a few images that are diagrams, too, and aren't from any company. Besides, as long as we don't display a logo or mention a specific company or anything, it's just using the images that are available, not advertising. Ok here is the page were they give credit to putz for all the pictures here it shows credit —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.89.60 (talk) 21:40, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
Anway it was nice talking with you. You do a great job and again thanks for talking to me about this. you guys do a great great job. I love your site. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 75.85.89.60 (talk) 21:48, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
- (edit conflict) I see. That would be an issue to work out after it's translated, as it probably wouldn't be good to only use images from a single company. I guess after it's all translated, we could replace some of those images with other images, leaving the diagrams and stuff. The most important thing to get translated is the text of the article, which is currently much more complete and informational on the Hebrew Wikipedia than this article here. - Thanks, and feel free to keep working on this article if you want. Your knowledge of this topic could be useful when we get into proofreading the translation. Remember, Wikipedia has gotten to be such a great site through the contributions of new editors! Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 21:55, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Tremme
I came across the term "tremme" in some work I was doing. I gather it has to do with using a "tremme pipe" essentially to fill a hole with concrete from bottom to top rather than simply pouring from the top. Apparently this is useful in preventing damage to the rebar structure during the pouring process and for ensuring uniformity of the concrete mix in deep holes (such as filling pipe pilings, etc.) It would be good if someone with expert knowledge could write a section on this aspect of concrete pumping.
