The Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec (CALQ) is a public agency funded by the government of Quebec (Canada).

[edit] Mandate

Founded in 1994, it offers support and funding for art projects that exhibit artistic excellence. The Conseil supports throughout Québec the creation, experimentation and production in the realms of performing arts, multidisciplinary arts, circus arts, visual arts, media arts, architectural research, arts and crafts, and literature and seeks to broaden their influence in Québec's culture in Canada and abroad. It also supports the advanced training of writers and professional artists.

The Conseil is managed by a board of directors comprising not more than 13 members appointed by the government at the suggestion of the Minister of Culture of Québec, following consultation with organizations that the government deems to be representative of the arts and literary communities. Board members are taken from the arts and literary communities and come from different regions of Québec.

  • Johanne Dor, Director of La Rotonde (Capitale-Nationale)
  • David Homel, Writer and translator (Montréal)
  • François Lahaye, Consultant - cultural sector (Mauricie)
  • Suzanne Masson, First Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, Centre CDP Capital (Montréal)
  • Marie-Jeanne Musiol, Photographer (Outaouais)
