Conroe Independent School District

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Conroe Independent School District (CISD) is a school district based in Conroe, Texas (USA).

CISD serves the cities of Conroe, Oak Ridge North, and Shenandoah, and the towns of Cut and Shoot and Woodloch. It also serves unincorporated communities in Montgomery County, including the Montgomery County portion of The Woodlands, which makes up almost all of The Woodlands (a new section of The Woodlands will be located in Harris County in the Tomball ISD) and the settlement of Tamina.

The district has 40,400 students in 25 K-4 elementary schools, 7 5-6 intermediate schools, 2 K-6 schools, 6 junior high schools, and 5 high schools (excluding one ninth grade center and two "schools within schools" in other CISD campuses). The CISD area, which covers 346 square miles, is part of the North Harris Montgomery Community College District.

In 2005, CISD enrolled displaced Lousianians from the areas affected by Hurricane Katrina who were residing in the Conroe ISD boundaries.

CISD has its own police department of over 40 Officers. As of 2007, CISD PD is run by Chief William Harness.
