Connecticut State Road 740

State Road 740 (SR 740) is an unsigned state highway in the U.S. state of Connecticut. It begins at North Main Street (U.S. Route 1) in Branford as Cedar Street, runs north, becoming Brushy Plain Road, then, after it crosses the North Branford line, becomes Totoket Road. It ends at Route 80 (Foxon Road). SR 740 is 3.26 miles long, with 2.53 miles in Branford.
Cedar Street continues south from the end of SR 740 to Main Street in the center of Branford.
A large number of condominium complexes are located on SR 740 or one of its side roads. Mary T. Murphy Elementary School, Veterans Memorial Park and Lidyhites Pond are also located on the section known as Brushy Plain Road. The road takes a winding route over a hill popularly known as "Snake Hill," site of numerous traffic accidents, as it heads north into North Branford. The original Silly Putty factory is on Totoket Road in North Branford.
