Connecticut Local Government

Local government in Connecticut is administered by the 169 municipalities and towns of the state. There is no county government in Connecticut.
In most of the state's larger cities, a mayor and council preside over local affairs, while boards of selectmen govern Connecticut numerous smaller suburbs and rural towns.
