Confident Kids

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Confident Kids is a nation-wide organization of Christian support group programs for children and their families, founded in 1990 by Linda Kondracki Sibley, who is a children's pastor in Southern California. All the groups use a common curriculum developed by Sibley. Because, according to the organization's website, "growing up in America today is not easy", Confident Kids is designed to provide a positive, nurturing space for children "struggling with highly stressful issues such as divorce, stepfamilies, alcoholic parents, and a host of other issues". Using a synthesis of modern psychology and Christian spirituality, the programs seek to build children's self-esteem and provide them with the necessary tools to cope with their emotions and stress. Concurrent programs for parents/adult family members are focused on improving the situation at home.
