Condamine Power Station, Queensland

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Queensland Gas Company is building the Condamine Power Station near Miles on the western Darling Downs. Austrian Energy and Siemens have signed a construction contract for the project, which is expected to begin during 2007.

The plant will produce 150 megawatts of power and is expected to go online in September 2009.[1]

Electricity will be generated by two gas turbines and one steam turbine from coal seam gas.[2] The gas reserves will be extracted from the Berwyndale South Gasfield.[3] Building the plant directly on top of the gas source will provide some of the cheapest gas fired electricity to the National Electricity Market.
