Category:Converts from Judaism

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

People for whom their former Jewish faith is a defining characteristic or related to their notability.

People who were born into the Jewish faith and converted to a Non-Jewish faith. For most, the denomination/congregation of Judaism they converted from is not specified. This category includes Jews who have claimed to be the Messiah, providing they successfully started a religion separate from Judaism. It does not include Karaite Jews, as Karaism is a Jewish denomination, not a separate religion. Some Christians, particularly the Early Christians should not be included in this category, as they did not intentionally convert from Judaism. This is a consequence of the Christian belief that their religion represents the "fulfilment" of Judaism.
