CONCEPTiCONS

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Frank Varela, the creator of the book CONCEPTiCONS, is a first generation Cuban American Graphic Designer and Art Director living in Los Angeles. CONCEPTiCONS are morphs of Words and Images.

Varela's book consists of taking a word--or a letter from a word--and combining it with an image. Then the newly created design would add visual symbolism to the word’s meaning.

CONCEPTiCONS is subjective. As with Egyptian hieroglyphs, where a picture or symbol was representative of a word, the word designs in CONCEPTiCONS depend on shared experiences. Words as symbols are the way in which Varela has interpretated the meaning of words. [1][2]
