Image talk:Complete neuron cell diagram.svg

This is obviously an outstanding image, but there is one error I see. It's a common error in quite a few texts, but you're obviously showing a CNS neuron. CNS neurons aren't myelinated by schawn cells, they're myelinated by oligodendrocytes. No big deal but... yeah. Bilz0r 02:55, 23 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Size of node of Ranvier?

I'm not so sure about this, and many books don't make specific reference to the topic, but is the exposed portion of the myelin sheath (nodes of Ranvier) that large as compared to the overall scale of the diagram? Jiahui1992 (talk) 14:18, 14 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image name misleading?

This image is of a vertebrate myelinated neuron (most likely a motor neuron), so it does not correctly depict invertebrate neurons, unmyelinated vertebrate neurons, etc. One of the key properties of neurons is their structural and functional diversity. So, the image would probably be more correctly entitled "Complete myelinated vertebrate neuron diagram", or similar. At the very least, the diagram, and the pages that include it should mention that it is not representative of all neurons, only a specific type. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.220.215.243 (talk) 18:28, 22 November 2007 (UTC)
