Community Technology Alliance

Community Technology Alliance, which provides networking solutions for the community, is a nonprofit agency in California founded in 1991. Its mission is to end and prevent homelessness by linking and networking communities through technology. It is a partnership among shelter and emergency shelter service providers, specialized nonprofits, Santa Clara County and the City of San Jose. Community Technology Alliance provides a range of technology services that allow nonprofit agencies to better serve the homeless and at-risk populations.

HousingSCC is a free web-based directory of over 10,000 subsidized housing units throughout Santa Clara County, and allows searches based on location, rent, open and closed waiting lists, accessibility for the disabled, and services offered. HousingSCC is a collaboration with Housing for Independent People (HIP).

The Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) facilitates more effective collection and sharing of information between agencies, to identify the needs and gaps in delivering services to the homeless and at-risk populations. HMIS is a nationwide initiative, and Community Technology is heading the implementation of HMIS in Santa Clara County.

The Shelter Bed Hotline (1-800-7Shelter) provides up-to-date information about emergency shelter throughout the nine San Francisco Bay Area counties via a 24-hour toll-free number. Callers can access information by county, language and type of shelter needed.

Community VoiceMail provides individuals with a unique voicemail number, removing the stigma of not having access to a home telephone. The VoiceMail number allows users to establish and maintain contact with potential employers and landlords, service providers, family and friends.

HelpSCC is a free web-based directory of health and human service providers in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties. The website lists information on over 1700 agencies, including location, telephone number and a description of the services offered, searchable by keyword, city or county region, or quick search icon.
