[edit] Album information
For their second album, Stone Sour parted ways with their original drummer Joel Ekman. For the album, Roy Mayorga (of Soulfly fame) took charge of the drumming duties. The band have since decided to keep Mayorga on as their full time drummer. Mayorga appears on all tracks on the album, except opener "30/30-150". Drums on that track are done by Godsmack and Amen drummer Shannon Larkin.

- Entertainment Weekly (p.159) - "[The album] serves its punishing riffs with a heaping side of heartfelt melody....This combination creates moments of genuine catharsis."
- Alternative Press (p.224) - "[The album] builds on their debut's strengths, allowing frontman Corey Taylor to drop his mask in more ways than one."
- Kerrang! (p.50) - "Captured live giving it to the audience with both barrels, it's a smashing glimpse of just how potent SS are onstage."

[edit] Points of notice
- Bonus Tracks taken from the Come What(ever) May recording sessions, except "Wicked Game," which is from a live-in-the-studio Canadian radio broadcast.
- On UK Versions of the special edition, "Zzyzx Rd." is shorter and in iTunes labeled as [Pop Version] some points have dual vocals, and the ending for the song is also different from the normal release of Come What(ever) May.
- The iTunes pre-order pack for the Limited edition release included a seventh bonus song "Kill Everybody". The song also appears on the Limited edition Digi-Pak release of the self-titled album.
Although the Australian Special Edition of the CD has the added tracks on the track listing and is advertised as having them, the tracks did not appear on the first run of releases of the special edition due to a fault by the manufacturer. All the customers were sent a replacement special edition that was not faulty. They were also promised a special 'gift' from Roadrunner Records but some replacements had no such gift.
In Germany, the most popular metal magazine "Metal Hammer" awarded this album in 2006 as the best metal album of the year.
