Comcast Housemates

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Comcast Housemates is a much-ridiculed[citation needed] 2007 advertising campaign for telecommunications giant Comcast, which centers around five male college students in Spokane, WA, who are brought together under one roof by a shared affinity for Comcast deals.

A typical Comcast Housemates "episode" features the foibles, pratfalls and general hijinks of the housemates as they talk about common college activities, such as partying, drinking, and doing laundry, before inevitably shifting into enthusiastic endorsements of services offered by Comcast.

The show has been relentlessly mocked on the blogosphere for its idiocy and for the housemates' blithe unawareness of the substantial homoerotic energy that is pumping through their house.[citation needed]

Comcast Housemates was filmed at 1017 E Sinto Ave. in Spokane, WA.

[edit] Characters

  • Stevie — "The Leader"

Though Stevie is "The Leader", he gets the least amount of air time. Searching for the actor online reveals a few of his personal moments captured on video sharing websites.

  • Ian — "The Rock Star"

This character supposedly has many girlfriends. He is most featured in the “Long Distance Relationships” commercials. His most embarrassing footage can be found on the Comcast Housemates official page under Web Exclusive Content titled “Ian’s Lovesong.”

  • Todd — "The Brain"

The Todd character is akin to the German ideal of the "everyman" and, therefore, has generally been free of typical mocking on the blogosphere.

  • Josh — "The Freshman"

In the “Internet Schedule” commercial he is most famous for the line: “Wanna trade? I’ll throw in this T-shirt,” which reinforces both the housemates' poor understanding of intrinsic broadband worth, as well as the substantial homoeroticism he personally pumps forth through his character's diction.

  • Vlady — "The Exchange Student"

His character's accent is remarkably similar to Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat, causing many to suspect that the actor is guilty of plagerism.[citation needed]
