The name of the group comes from the ancient Latin name of the town Vinkovci, Colonia Aurelia Cibalae. Boris and Tomislav worked as DJ's on the radio, where they were making jingles and as they needed female vocal they started working with Indira. The first released single of the group COLONIA was Nek' vatre gore sve (1996). They sent it to the radio stations all over the country and the song had great success. Next single was Sve oko mene je grijeh which hit the national charts and became huge hit. After that they singed contract with record company Crno-bijeli svijet, CBS, and made their first album Vatra i led (1997) that was sold in unbelievable 40 000 copies for the debut album. Only a year later, on Dora (Croatian contest for the Eurosong), they achieved success with the song U ritmu ljubavi that won 4. place. Few months later Colonia won a prize for the song Lady Blue on Melodije hrvatskog Jadrana (festival Melodies of the Adriatic). Next single that conquered the fans was Njeno ime ne zovi u snu. In the year 1999 they released second album Ritam ljubavi. With numerous concerts in Croatia and abroad and the excellent sale of the album COLONIA becomes one of the most popular and bestselling groups in Croatia and in the republics of former Yugoslavia, therefore it doesn't surprise the name of their third album Jaca nego ikad, 2000, released by Croatia Records. On the album, among others, are the songs: - Budi mi zbogom - on Croatia radio festival won 2. place; - Deja vu - no. 1 in Asian charts in 2001., cover version was made by famous Japanese group Kinki Kids for their album, E album, in Japanese the song is called Jonetsu, single was sold in over 800.000 copies, while album sale was over 1.5 million, this was 13th single of Kinki Kids that went straight to no. 1; on Melodies of the Adriatic they won Best act - Sexy Body released on the compilation BOLLWERK, The Nightclub volume 5 by Balloon Records, Austria, 2001 and was on the dance and dj charts world wide Same year for their fans Colonia organized big concert in Dom Sportova for 10.000 people. Their fourth album Milijun milja od nigdje, 2001., in less then a month was sold in more than 50.000 copies and became the best selling album in Republic of Croatia. It was sold in more than 300.000 copies in Croatia and world. The song Za tvoje snene oci wins GRAND PRIX of Croatian radio festival as well as GRAND PRIX on Hit of summer, becomes huge hit and the most performed song in 2001. To repay to their fans and DJ's group COLONIA released special, limited LP edition of the album with the original songs and remixes. The fifth album Izgubljeni svijet was released in 2002. It has bonus DVD track with biography, discography and videos. With the song Oduzimas mi dah Colonia wins again GRAND PRIX of Croatian radio festival and was the most performed song in 2002. That same year is released COLONIA, The best of, vol.1 that contains all the hit singles of the group. In 2003. for the third time COLONIA wins GRAND PRIX of Croatian radio festival with the song C'est la vie, the first single from the new album Dolazi oluja. In the 2004. C'est la vie was the best song and Colonia was best group at Euro webcharts. COLONIA released albums Milijun milja od nigdje and Izgubljeni svijet in Slovakia and Czech Republic and is one of the most popular groups there. It is no.1 and charts and interactive television Musicbox TV. In December 2003 they received 3 Music box awards: Best international performer and 2 for the Best song. In January 2004 the English version of the song Za tvoje snene oci was released by the name A little bit of Uh la la. The text of the song was written by Mary Susan Applegate, known songwriter (Celine Dion, Modern Talking, La Bouche, No Mercy, Nena, Jennifer Rush, Bonney M...) and arranged by Ralf Keipmaier (creator of the project SASH). The song was released in vinyl and CD single and on numerous compilations from which the most successful are EMPIRE 3. The club Revolution and BRAVO hits. The song was on many charts worldwide (Canadian dance chart - no.1). A little bit of Uh la la is released in 36 countries at this moment under different record labels. In Italy was released by MEDIA Records. DJ Paolo Ortelli (works with Gigi D'Agostino) made a remix. The premiere was on the Radio DJ in the program of Gabry Ponte. In summer 2004 Za tvoje snene oci, Ti da bu di bu da and Deja vu were released in Korea on the compilations Volcano, Beatman and Dancemania. Colonia song have been released through a number of compilations in different countries: - Austria (Bollwerk, Empire compilation - Younique, Club dance only), - Italia (Club revolution), - Czech Republic (Tanecni liga, Hot summer hits, Love generation, Bravo hits), - Poland (Bravo hits), - Russia (Energy 2, Tancevalnij Rai, Evro diskoteka, Mega diskoteka), - Korea (Volcano) Through their carrier group COLONIA won many prizes on festivals and was the group of the year on many radio stations and in magazines. Album NAJBOLJE OD SVEGA was released in: - July 2005, for Croatia and territories of ex Yugoslavia, - February 2006 for territory of Russia, Ukraine and Kazahstan - and spring 2006 for territory of Czech Republic and Slovakia The 8th album of COLONIA was DO KRAJA and song Do kraja was himn 3. sezon big brothera Colonia has 8study albums,28 singl and 2 best of
