[edit] NPOV dispute
the article partly sounds like an ad off the company's web page (especially the features section) - upon checking the version history it became clear why: user Phelfe (presumably Peter Helfenstein, the present CEO of Collanos) has created almost all of the content ----no one important (Dec. 17, 2007)
Please feel free to adapt the article where it is not neutral enough. You are right, big part of the article has been contributed by me and I do my best to keep it objective. ---- Phelfe (Jan. 23, 2008)
[edit] Missing information
In order to make it sound less like an ad, it would be good to have e.g. comparisons to other collaboration tools, as well as an objective view on possible protocol/data lock-in.
I'm mentioning the data-lock in, because I had to use Groove and even it's pre-microsoft version was a total vendor lock in.
On Collanos' homepage it says that it's based on open standards/protocols, but I couldn't find any real information if I can connect with different clients to e.g. the IM part of it. The rooker (talk) 15:01, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Collanos license
Hi, what is the definition of the category open source or free? Collanos is a freeware, no licence fee involved. It is proprietary software since the code is not open sourced. I do not understand why it is listed in the proprietary category since it fulfills the free criteria as much as many of the non OpenSource products listed in the upper part. Thanks for a short explanation. Regards Peter —Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.56.172.85 (talk • contribs) 16:48, 11 February 2008
- Hi, if you refer to List of collaborative software a link to a description about free software can be found in the first category. Which "many non open source products" are listed in the wrong category, they look correct for me? - 83.254.215.231 (talk) 00:39, 12 February 2008 (UTC)
- Collanos is no free software and the other entries in the list of collaborative software were correctly listed. I clarified other articles where Collanos was labeled "free", the English term free is ambiguous and it is better to use freeware or proprietary software in this case. - 83.254.215.231 (talk) 17:42, 14 February 2008 (UTC)
