It may also be a good idea to mention Tom White in this. :) Ambi 04:45, 24 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Acting, politics and WP NPOV

A recent edit by 90.192.239.252 modified the way in which Friels' views about acting and political engagement are presented, while leaving it referenced to the Negus interview. I think the Negus interview sustains the point as it was originally made, that is, that "Friels has argued...", though I do not think my language for the rest of the sentence was as good as it could be, and I will try to improve it. I would also suggest the modification risks moving away from NPOV - essentially by implicitly denigrating Friels' view rather than stating it. The new edit is also unreferenced (unlike the original). By this I mean that the original accurately reflects sources: it states Friels' argument, and it gives a citation where that argument could be found. The newer version links Friels views to those of "many actors without formal academic credentials", which, apart from being news to me, is an unsourced assertion. It also represents a particular view of what "academic credentials" might be. Friels' NIDA training is excluded and while I can understand (and accept) an argument as to this approach, others may not and it presents a challenge to the NPOV. I will attempt to re-work the phrase to see if I can do a better job on my own draft words of a few weeks back... hamiltonstone 13:43, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
