[edit] Incomprehensible nonsense
What in the world is "Colgate toothpaste is mostly the same the only difference is mainly taste some toothpaste contains more abrasive than others" supposed to mean? RockinRobbin 23:42, 26 February 2007 (UTC) "Our goal is to provide an athletic competition" - What does "Our" mean? Changed "our goal" to "the goal." Spazquest 15:34, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Trivia
I remember reading somewhere that Colgate used to make candles as well. I'll add it if I get a reference. 203.97.2.243 11:26, 19 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- It's rumored that colgate in fact means go hang yourself in the argentinian dialect. Can someone invalidate or confirm it?
Indeed, colgate means "go hang yourself" not just in argentiniandialect, but on almost all Central American countries dialect and in western Colombia, too. Nevertheless, even though there are some jokes related with it, the brand name is as strong on those acountries than on any other else.
- "It's a common fun-fact that colgate translates to go hang yourself in Spanish. However, hang yourself is spelled cuélgate and is pronounced completely different from colgate." Very informal. This can hardly be considered material for a WikiPedia article unless there is a citation and some immediate grammatical editing. I'm going to edit this out unless there's full proof of this being used. I have never seen it.--WaltCip 13:02, 20 September 2006 (UTC)
One of the trivia facts says that Colgate only lists two countries, though it has susidiaries all over the world. On the Colgate website, you can link to the pages for a number of their international headquarters. Is this different than what the trivia was eluding to? - Maybe they're talking about the local stock exchange? I can't verify this. Spazquest 15:36, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Colgate and Thithing
[edit] Question from Vitor Madeira
Hi! I've heard several times on my church that Mr. Colgate (the founder of Colgate-Palmolive) gave big ammounts of tithes to his church, and that at his elder ages, near his death, he even gave 90% of his earnings instead of just 10% as the Bible states.
I've heard some times my pastor saying this in order to give examples of famous thithers, but I just can't confirm if this is true. Is this a hoax or is it true?
Could please someone help me on this matter?
Thank you very much. Vitor Madeira 17:07, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Environmental record
I have added a sub-section on Environmental Record. Please let me know if you have any feedback on this.
Also, I have included a couple of references in this section. For this reason, I would like to propose removing the "unreferenced article" template. Please let me know if you have any comments on this. --Rejede 08:30, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
- Update: I have removed the "unreferenced article" template/infobox, since there are now multiple references included in the article. --Rejede 01:01, 3 July 2007 (UTC)
