[edit] Fair use in B movies (The exploitation boom)
This image is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (DCGeist) believe it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:
- it is a single screenshot of a commercially distributed feature film;
- it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell or promote the film in any way;
- it is being used only for informational purposes; and
- the image adds significantly to the article because it (a) illustrates a significant and seminal B movie of the splatter film genre by the genre's formative filmmakers as discussed in the accompanying text and (b) supports a sourced discussion of the budgeting and special effects techniques employed by such films
[edit] Licensing
This image is a screenshot from a copyrighted film, and the copyright for it is most likely owned by the studio which produced the film, and possibly also by any actors appearing in the screenshot. It is believed that the use of a limited number of web-resolution screenshots
qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Non-free content for more information. |
