Colyford is a small town in East Devon, England. It is adjacent to the town of Colyton to the north.
[edit] Features
Colyford includes some ancient thatched cottages and there is a butchers shop and a church in the town which is on the A3052 road to the west of the rivers Coly and Axe. It is a stopping place on the Seaton Tramway, which crosses the road via a driver operated level crossing.
Colyton Grammar School dates from 1545 and made headlines in recent years as the first school to 'opt out' of local authority control and gain grant-maintained status and for achieving very high rankings in national examination league tables. It is located on a narrow lane and is not visible from the main road.
