Colorado Catholic Academy is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Wheat Ridge, Colorado. It is independently owned and operated with the approval of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Denver. Unlike most Catholic schools in the area, it was not formed by the Archdiocese of Denver and is not under the supervision of the Archdiocese's Office of Catholic Schools.

[edit] Background

CCA was established in 1974 and is accredited by the National Association of Private Catholic and Independent Schools (NAPCIS).

The school's founder, Mary Ann Christofano, was its first principal. Court-ordered school busing was one of the reasons the school was started. As of 1976, four of its 11 teachers, including Christofano, were unpaid volunteers, and the school did not provide organized sports.[1]

CCA closed due to financial constraints after the conclusion of the 06/07 school year.[citation needed]
