College Court Building sits across Anderson Avenue from the main Kansas State University campus in Manhattan, KS and houses the Division of Continuing Education and the Office of Mediated Education. The building is distinct for its U-shape and previous history as an apartment building.
[edit] Division of Continuing Education
The Division of Continuing Education extends Kansas State University's intellectual resources through quality degree programs, lifelong learning, and professional development opportunities. Throughout its history, K-State's Division of Continuing Education has provided educational opportunities for adult learners. DCE has offered thousands of conferences, seminars, courses, and degree programs to distance education students and work professionals in all 50 states and 10 foreign countries. The Division continually utilizes the latest technology for distance delivery, standing behind 40 years of success and progress in distance education.
The Division was formally established in 1966 by the Kansas Board of Regents. In the late 1990s, the Division first began offering classes online. At this time, the Office of Mediated Education developed K-State Online, a learning management system that allows distance students to participate in classes in a manner similar to that of a traditional on-campus student.[1]
The Division currently offers over 1,500 classes and serves over 13,000 students on an annual basis.
