Colin Martin is an Irish citizen from Carrickmacross, County Monaghan, who was imprisoned in Thai prisons for the crime of murder.[1]
He is the author of the book Welcome to Hell--One Man's Fight for Life Inside the Bangkok Hilton (ISBN 0954870778), about his experiences in the Thai legal system, and in the Thai prison system.
He was swindled out of a fortune. He tracked down the man who conned him, and drawn into a fight, accidentally stabbed and killed that man's bodyguard. He claims to not have been given a fair trial. He served almost eight years in Thai prisons.
He was released from the notorious Lard Yao prison near Bangkok on January 18, 2005, and was deported from Thailand shortly after that date.
He continues to work as a welder.
