Cole Harris

Richard Colebrook "Cole" Harris (born 4 July 1936) is a Canadian geographer.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1958 from the University of British Columbia. He received a Master of Science degree in 1962 and a Ph.D. in 1964 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In 1964, he joined the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor and became an Associate Professor in 1971. In 1971, he joined the University of British Columbia as an Associate Professor and became a Professor in 1973.

In 1982, he was made a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. In 2003, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society awarded Harris the Massey Medal. In 2004, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada.
