Coffee Tempo! is the name of a chain of coffeehouses in the UK.
They are located in several larger Little Chef restaurants and was developed for people not wanting to spend long waiting in Little Chefs.
These 'grab and go' style coffeeshops units were developed by Nick Smith, who joined Little Chef as development director after leading the design and reconstructed the Wild Bean Café format at BP petrol stations. They began to appear in 2005. At first they stocked a range of sandwiches as well as hot offerings such as pies. now they are down to a poor range of expensive sandwiches, cheap tasting coffee that is 'branded' but nobody has ever heard of it, and as they are so quiet all the time the units are not even staffed anymore, they rely on a waitress coming across to the unit from the Little Chef.
They are not as successful as Little Chef hoped they would be, some have already started to close, with the rest to follow suit over the next 12 months under the new regime of Ian Pegler, the new Little Chef Chief executive appointed in March 2008.
