Is this really an encylopedia article? It's a murder suspect in one state of the US - the kid hasn't even been charged yet has he? Never mind found guilty of anything. Even if he were found guilty would he deserve an article? Secretlondon 01:11, 9 Jul 2004 (UTC)

It is an encyclopedia article: The case could be big, based on the fact that it happened in a celebrity's ranch. "Antonio Not so Secret Martin"

The trial of Cody Posey is currently being televised. I have been around criminal defense attorneys my entire life and have, therefore, seen my fair share. This is the most interesting case I can recall. There is a huge outpouring of sympathy for the defendant. The prosecutor has been largely dismissed as "throwing" the case, possibly due to sympathy for the defendant. How many times does that happen? (Ivygriffin 02:40, 22 January 2006 (UTC))

[edit] Not suspected, confessed!

He is not suspected, he "tearfully" confessed to parent murder on videotape: http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/02/06/ranch.trial.ap/index.html

I hope he commits suicide in prison, so his arrival in eternal hell is guaranteed. The Bible says you can expect to live long only if you respect your parents!

You're the reason people give up on being Christians. You should be ashamed of yourself. Chris 16:32, 7 February 2006 (UTC)

Correction!! You should be ashamed of yourself, "Chris?" If you're going to quote God's Word, you should get your facts straight! Yes, we are directed to respect our parents, and likewise we will live long upon the earth. You are very wrong on at least on two counts: #1) "I hope he commits suicide in prison" displays no Christian love, and furthermore encourages a strongly forbidden act in the Bible. #2) "...so his arrival in eternal hell is guaranteed"...is suggesting that the murders, and his subsequent confession would send him to hell. Wrong. The only action that guarantees a destination of hell is refusing to accept the Lord as your Savior, NOT the severity of sin you might commit!! (John 3:15-16, Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, Romans 6:23)

Further, Ephesians 6:4 commands fathers not to provoke their children to wrath. Compared to Paul Posey's treatment of Cody, isn't that an understatement?!

Final statement: What in the world did Jesus shed his blood for, dying to cover ALL our sins, if our sins could still send us to hell? End of story. Amen.

You've got it wrong, it wasn't me that quoted the Bible, it was the chode before me that I was chastising, who didn't sign their statement. Mine are always signed. Chris 16:47, 12 February 2006 (UTC)

Correction to the "correction" by the Christian (I speak as another Christian)... "Compared to Paul Posey's treatment of Cody..." You who are so quick to judge a dead man, based on the allegations of his son who killed him - whatever happened to "by two or three witnesses..."?

I suspect the kid is lying.

Anyway, in case anyone is wondering why he was sentenced till (at most) he's 21 , here are the judge's words from the sentencing transcript:

Considering all of the factors together, and weighing them against one another, I find that the state has failed to carry its burden of proof that the respondent is not amenable to treatment or rehabilitation as a child in available facilities. The court so finds, regardless of whether the burden is beyond a reasonable doubt by clear and convincing evidence or by a preponditure of the evidence.

Given such findings, the court has no discretion to impose an adult sentence.

[edit] Removed POV

I removed the POV in the title. This kid didn't actually confess to murdering his family. He confessed to killing them. In actual fact he wasn't even convicted of murdering his father as the jury judged it to be manslaughter. --Signed by: Chazz - (responses). @ 12:13, 25 February 2006 (UTC)

this guy is a coward instead of taking the responsability-punishment for his sins he throws his sins and guilt on video games, gaining the attention of the evil attorney jack thompson and hurting the spirits and reputation of videogamers all over

what are you talking about? He didn't lay blame on video games. The kid snapped, because he was a victim of child abuse. You don't understand this case at all, do you?

yeah well why he allows his lawyer to use the "game made me to it, defense" ahh

Acutally, Posey's attorney has spoken out against the defense you claim he is using. Gary Mitchell, Posey's criminal defense attorney, said attorney Jack Thompson contacted him "numerous times" before the trial, urging Mitchell to highlight the game in Posey's defense, but Mitchell said he "just didn't find it had any merit whatsoever." --Maxamegalon2000 00:37, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tryone

Is the name really "Tryone", I'd think Tyrone would be more attestable. Just wondering if a typo. 71.222.88.249 04:04, 11 February 2007 (UTC)

"Tryone" is correct. It is the name of a female victim in this case, and not a typo for the male name "Tyrone." The name is pronounced "tree on." (JosephASpadaro 03:16, 4 June 2007 (UTC))
