Is This Technology possible???

^Toastpaint^ Anyways, in Metal Gear Solid, there's 8 CODEC spaces. I think the eight is Vulcan Raven, but it's a secret in the game. You have to complete it and do something. I'm really sure there is an eigth CODEC number for Metal Gear Solid... --86.12.242.248 20:47, 26 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Proposal for Deletion

I disagree with the deletion proposal - the codec is a major part of the series' gameplay and background. If there are pages dedicated to the MJOLNIR suit of the Halo series or the weaponry of the Crusader series, to name a few examples, why is a page dedicated to one of the distinctive technologies of the MGS series viewed as superfluous?—Preceding unsigned comment added by 203.91.144.3 (talk • contribs)

I prodded this article for a number of reasons:

  1. The 2nd paragraph is complete speculation (see WP:OR)
  2. The 3rd paragraph isn't even about the codec but rather that a radio replaces its function in MGS3.
  3. The last 2 paragraphs are just about interesting things you can do on the codec screen (or radio screen since it switches back and forth from MGS 2& MGS3)that is more suited for a MGS or game wiki. It is interesting? Yes, for MGS players. Is it suited for an encyclopedia? No. Wikipedia is not a [guide].
  4. Cutting away all the things that shouldn't be in a wikipedia article, we are left with only this to say about a codec: It is a fictional radio communication device that is used in MGS series as a device to save the game, give the player info, and move the story along.

All you need is a paragraph at most explaining what a codec is to someone who has never played the game (keep in mind this who we are writing for; people who already have played MGS know what a codec is). We don't an entire article dedicated to this. --Mitaphane talk 01:57, 25 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Should Stay

I think this article should stay because, as said before, it is a major element in the series. I just feel that the article needs a little cleanup. I think people are just redirecting the article because they're too lazy to rewrite and cleanup the article.

I tagged the article for cleanup and I'll get started on it right away. If anyone wants to help, it'll be appreciated. --74.34.217.222 02:57, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
