Codorus Creek Railway
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Codorus Creek Railway is a railroad company in York County, Pennsylvania, based at Railroad, Pennsylvania, with the intention of running trains along the Codorus Creek, from Hyde to New Freedom. It has a stated mission to "provide safe, efficient, low-cost rail freight service to southern York County" and to "strive to become an asset to the county and the towns located along our route." The route is a former Pennsylvania Railroad line that was last operated by the Northern Central Railway dinner train operation, which closed in 2001. Currently the tracks belong to the local county parks authority, which allows owners of track cars to ride on the rails. The Codorus Creek Railway has not yet begun operations and, considering its financial, operational and legal hurdles, trains may not ever be seen again on the line.
