High Frequency Radio communications – Codan designs and manufactures a range of HF equipment including transceivers (base, portable and mobile), modems, power supplies, amplifiers, antennas and accessories. It also provides HF solutions ranging from basic voice communication to data, email, fax, chat, GPS tracking, and interoperability according to FED and MIL standards.

Codan’s HF transceivers were initially developed to provide communications for people living, working and travelling in central Australia. The equipment earned a reputation for ruggedness and reliability and soon became the first choice of many commercial and private users around the world. Codan is now recognised as the leading supplier of HF Radio products to aid and humanitarian markets since 1980. Other markets include the public, private and security sectors, as well as a significant recreational vehicle user market.

Military communications – Armed forces rely on HF Radio technology to provide secure and highly reliable communications in demanding applications and environments. HF Radio communications are more secure, less reliant on commercial providers, and more resistant to jamming than other communications.

Codan military HF Radio transceivers comply with MIL-STD-188-141B ALE (JITC Certified) and FED-STD-1045 ALE, are interoperable with other military grade radios, and provide frequency hopping and voice encryption. Codan is a recognised supplier to the US Army and has provided around 3000 transceivers to support security and rebuilding programs in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Satellite communications – Codan designs and manufactures C-Band and Ku-Band RF sub-systems for use in satellite earth stations. It has over 20,000 systems installed over the past ten years in harsh environments.

Codan also supplies a comprehensive range of power levels, redundancy switching systems, remote monitor hardware, cabling and other accessories. Typical applications of Codan’s satellite RF subsystems include GSM Backhaul, Offshore and Maritime VSAT, and Government and Military VSAT networks.

Codan operates a large manufacturing facility on a 22,000 square metre site, which houses extensive automatic test beds. All Block Up Converter (BUC) and Transceiver modules are temperature cycled over a 95°C range to ensure performance and reliability.

Digital Microwave Radio communications – Codan’s Digital Microwave Radio (DMR) series is a family of point-to-point products that can be configured to suit the PDH carrier or Ethernet private user markets. DMRs are quick and simple to install in a modern communications network, especially where link reliability is vital to overcome poor propagation conditions.
