• 1701 - Elizabeth Haddon arrives to oversee the land acquired by her father, John Haddon, a London Quaker and friend of William Penn. She names the area Haddonfield in honor of her father. A year later she marries John Estaugh, a Quaker missionary.

• 1713 - The Estaughs build a brick mansion on what is now Wood Lane in Haddonfield.

• 1721 - First Quaker meetinghouse is erected on land deeded by John Haddon.

• 1762 - Elizabeth Haddon dies.

• 1764 - The volunteer Friendship Fire Co., now known as Haddon Fire Co. No. 1, is formed.

• 1777 - With British and Colonial armies fighting in Trenton, the New Jersey Assembly reconvenes at the Indian King Tavern in Haddonfield to pass legislation officially creating an independent state.

• 1778 - British troops march through Haddonfield on the way to what would become the Battle of Monmouth.

• 1853 - Rail line between Camden and Haddonfield begins operations and is extended to Atlantic City the next year.

• 1865 - Haddon Township is created from the eastern half of Newton Township, including Haddonfield. The new township will be broken up over the next 60 years.

• 1875 - Haddonfield incorporates as a borough.

• 1890 - Benjamin A. Lippincott builds a train station on his land in Haddon Township for the Atlantic City Railroad Company and files a plan for Haddon Heights.

• 1893 - Collingswood splits from Haddon Township, incorporates as borough.

• 1904 - Haddon Heights is incorporated; Indian King Tavern is first historical site bought by the state.

• 1905 - Oaklyn and Audubon split from Haddon Township.

• 1910 - Woodlynne splits from Haddon Township.

• 1918 - Camden annexes what is now known as Fairview from Haddon Township.

• 1926 - Fairfield Estates section of Center Township becomes part of Haddon Heights.

• 1965 - Pennsylvania-Reading Seashore Line (PRSL) ends passenger service on line serving Haddon Heights.

• 1966 - PRSL ends rail service between Camden and Haddonfield; work begins on PATCO High-Speed Line.

• 1969 - PATCO High-Speed Line begins service with stations serving Haddonfield and Westmont section of Haddon Township.
