Coby Scott Bell was born on 11 May 1975, in Orange County, California. He is an American Actor best known for his role as Police Officer Tyrone Davis Jr on Third Watch.

Coby is married to Aviss Pinkney-Bell and has twin girls with her. Serrae and Jaena, were born June 21st, 2003. Coby's father is renowned Broadway veteran Michel Bell.

He is an honors graduate of San Jose State University, California.

In his spare time Coby serves as a Big Brother for Long Beach Volunteer Patrol, which since its inception has saved over 3,000 victims of the sea. Bell is the outgoing master of cadets.

He also surfs, plays tennis and plays basketball. Coby sings in a reggae band. He also plays the keyboard.

Coby's career started with a few minor roles in various shows, such as The Parent 'Hood, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, ER and Smart Guy, before landing a role in L.A. Doctors. He appeared as Patrick Owen, in 13 episodes.

However, Coby is best known for his role as Officer Ty Davis, Jr. on Third Watch. Coby was one of only five original Third Watch cast members to remain on the show throughout its entire six-season run on NBC. The others were Molly Price, Anthony Ruivivar, Skipp Sudduth, and Jason Wiles.

In 2003, Coby co-starred in "Safe", a critically acclaimed play co-written by Third Watch co-star Anthony Ruivivar. The play also starred Third Watch regular Jason Wiles and Third Watch recurring guest star Yvonne Jung.

In 2005, Coby guest-starred in three episodes of the UPN sitcom Half & Half, as a firefighter named Glen.

In 2006, Coby starred in and co-produced an independent film called Drifting Elegant. The project marked his debut as a producer. He starred as Renny Lyles.

Also in 2006, Coby guest-starred in an episode of the UPN comedy series Girlfriends. The episode was called "The Game", and served as the pilot episode for his new sitcom of the same name, The Game. Coby stars as Jason Pitts, the captain of the fictional San Diego Sabers football team. The CW series also stars Tia Mowry and Wendy Raquel Robinson.

In May 2007, Coby guest starred in CSI: Miami, in episode "Kill Switch". He played the Cuban drug kingpin Tony Rosetti.

  • Coby is 6'3".
  • Bell came close to winning a special Third Watch edition of game show the Weakest Link. The final round came down to him and on-screen police partner Skipp Sudduth, who eventually prevailed in a sudden-death round.
  • To lighten the mood on the set of Third Watch, which regularly delved into serious and dark subject matter (especially in its last three seasons), Bell, Ruivivar, and Sudduth reportedly engaged in water gun fights using the syringes found in the show's hospital set and ambulances.
  • Of all the actors on Third Watch, Coby lived the closest to ground zero. He lived only a couple of blocks from the World Trade Center, and was at home with his wife when it was attacked in 2001. They were woken by the first plane flying over their building and at first thought the pilot had broken the sound barrier. After a phone call from fellow Third Watch cast member Jason Wiles, they realised what was going on. Coby opened his home to strangers, hoping to get away from the dust on the streets. [1][2][3]
