I had a disappointing sojourn in a clubhouse. My rehabilitation and rights were not a priority. On the other hand, this article does a good job of summing up the clubhouse model. I don't have the knowledge but I wish the rehabilitation model was discussed from a scholarly point of view. Why don't all clubhouses adopt the ICCD Standards and certification? I read a fascinating critique of quicthe transitional employment program by a non-ICCD clubhouse specialist. As a political science major, I don't believe that a few mental patients from Rockland State developed Fountain House, which is supported by much philanthropy, and an international movement. There had to be powerful well-wishers. Similarly, a discussion of rehabilitation costs across various models would be useful. A quick review of the professional literature comparing models would be informative.
