A merger is not necessary. If you would take a look at the following other city climate pages...

• Climate of Toledo, Ohio
• Climate of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
• Climate of Chicago, Illinois

These cities also have climate information in the city article itself. I think this should not be merged.
