[edit] History
The school was founded in 1942 when half of Clifton School moved from Durban to the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands over fears of danger during World War II. One notable change is its choice to move to a co-educational model. Clifton recently added Grades 1-3 and phased out Grade 8 which traditionally was a Boys only grade.
[edit] Boarding
Clifton accepts both boy and girl boarders from Grade 1 (age 6). Clifton offers a wide range of boarding options, from full boarding to weekly and temporary boarding. Clifton is one of the few remaining independent preparatory schools in KwaZulu-Natal that offers full boarding to young children, with numerous boarders coming from Southern African countries.
[edit] Grounds
Clifton's Riding School is based on 40 hectares of land. Clifton runs a very active Out-and-About scheme to keep the children active and exploring the grounds safely.
