Clifford Nass is a professor in the Communication Department at Stanford University and a renowned authority on Human Computer Interaction. Nass also holds courtesy appointments in Science, Technology, and Society, Sociology, and Symbolic Systems departments at the university. Nass is the director of the Communication between Humans and Interactive Media (CHIMe) Lab at Stanford University. Aside from the above roles, Nass is also the co-director of Kozmetsky Global Collaboratory (KGC) at Stanford University and its Real-time Venture Design Laboratory (ReVeL).

Clifford Nass earned a B.A. cum laude in Mathematics from Princeton University in 1981. He then conducted research in the areas of computer graphics, data structures and database design for IBM and Intel before coming back to Princeton for a doctoral program in sociology. Clifford Nass got his Ph.D in sociology from Princeton University in 1986. http://communication.stanford.edu/faculty/nass.html

He is the author of two books, "The Media Equation: How People Treat Computers, Televisions, and New Media Like Real People and Places" (published by Cambridge University Press) and "Wired for Speech: How Voice Activates and Advances the Human-Computer Relationship" (published by MIT Press). He has also published well over 100 articles in the area of HCI, Statistical methodology and oprganizational theory. "He is credited with the founding of the "Computers are Social Actors" paradigm.
