[edit] on the main page or the talk page
The statement that this should go only on the talk page, added on June 21 per the above discussion, was removed by an anon, [User:193.95.165.190]] . I think that needs to be discussed here first--the policy in general is that they do go on the talk page only. OK for being bold--I have now reverted--if you think your change should be correct, discuss it here. DGG (talk) 07:50, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
The guideline is that cleanup tags go on the article page: Wikipedia:Template messages/Cleanup, and that should be the standing instruction unless there is a compelling reason to place the list cleanup tag the talk page instead (and I can't think of one). The discussion above is simply a proposal which has not gained consensus, and appears to have fizzled out without support. It is not a guideline, and should not be confused for one. [edit] Embedded v Laundry list
I have just changed the template to link direct to standing Wiki guidelines on use of lists within articles Wikipedia:Embedded list, this addresses concerns raised on the project talk page about explanations for laundry list, and also that templates advertising projects more properly should go on the talk page on articles. The template should be considered one for use by everyone, not just project members. SilkTork *** SilkyTalk 18:10, 15 September 2007 (UTC)

- But this guideline does not support the template. One of the options on the template must be leave it alone if it seems appropriate DGG (talk) 17:54, 16 September 2007 (UTC)
- The implication is that if the tag has been placed on an article, then the judgment of that editor has been that the list is not appropriate. If another editor feels that the list or lists are appropriate then that editor can remove the tag and make a comment giving a reason why the tag was removed. By linking boldly and openly to the style guideline, a person can read the guideline and make a judgment which may reverse the actions of the previous editor. This is how Wiki works.
