Cleveland High School is an American public secondary school located in Seattle, Washington. The school is part of the Seattle School District. The building, which gained recognized landmark status by the City of Seattle in 1981, stands atop Beacon Hill. It overlooks the broad Duwamish River valley, including the neighborhood of Georgetown. Historically, this area was farmland, but became heavily industrialized in the World War II era. The school now has an expansive view of the urban airport Boeing Field. The surrounding neighborhood was historically a European immigrant community, but is now primarily Asian. The school predates Interstate 5, which now separates the school from Georgetown.
Cleveland High School is one of the smallest high schools in Seattle. The school has seen tremendous academic growth in the past years. It is also a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Achiever Scholars high school.
In 2007 Cleveland High School completed a modernization of the 1926-27 historic building and addition of a new gym and classroom building.
