1980 Lessons Commenced on 2 January 1980. Miss Kan Sou Tin was appointed as first Principal. The building was partially completed. There were 12 classes of Secondary 1. The first Track and Field Meet was held. 981 The number of classes increased to 20. The school premises was shared by staff and pupils of Jin Xiu Secondary School and 3 other primary schools. The first Speech and Prize Giving day was held on 29 July. 1982 The school was declared officially open by Mr. Bernard Chen, Member of Parliament for Clementi on 29 July. 1983 The first batch of 191 pupils sat for the GCE 'O' Level Examinations. The first Food and Fun fair was held to raise funds for school development projects. 1984 Classes peaked at 54. The teaching staff increased to 86. The first batch of 249 pupils sat for the GCE 'N' Level Examinations. 1985 800 Secondary 1 and 2 pupils performed a mass dance entitled 'Youth in Harmony', as part of the school's contribution to the National Day Celebrations on 9 August. the Drop-In Centre was set up to provide services for the pupils. 1986 Miss Kan Sou Tin was appointed Deputy Director, Special Projects at the Curriculum Development Institute of Singapore. Sister Maria Lau joined CTSS as the Principal on 14 February. 1987 CTSS was selected as one of the 12 schools for Pastoral Care and Career Guidance. The Annual Fitness Run was introduced to all pupils. A second Food and Fun Fair was held on 14 March. 1988 The first fully equipped Computer Laboratory was declared open on 29 July by Mr. Bernard Chen, MP for Pasir Panjang GRC. An Exhibition was held with the theme, "Education for Life". Computer Appreciation courses were organized for all pupils. Residential camps were organized for pupils of all levels. 1989 The Media Centre was set up to co-ordinate the use of equipment, facilities and to provide services to meet the audio-visual. needs of the school. The Pupil Centre was set up to expand the services provided by the 'Drop-in Centre'. The Media Centre, Pupil Centre and Library were declared open by Miss Kan Sou Tin on 8 April. All Secondary 1 and 2 received music lessons. CoRT lessons were introduced to Secondary 1 and 2 pupils

1990 Enrichment Periods were introduced to the Lower Secondary Classes. Sister Maria was appointed Principal of St. Theresa's Convent. Mrs. Virginia Cheng joined CTSS as the third Principal on 26 February. The Apple Macintosh Computer Laboratory was set up and declared open on 23 February. The school was selected as one of the pilot schools for the SMART Classroom Project. 1991 CTSS held a celebration of the Arts on 4 July at the Drama Centre. It was a cultural experience for the students as they presented a play and other cultural items. A staff camp was held in Malacca from 7 to 8 September. Teachers attended the camp to build on collegiality, acquire teaching skills and establish a common language. CTSS became on of the pilot schools to trial the setting of the 2nd-tier Miscellaneous Fees.

1992 By 1992, plans for the development of the school were finalized and consisted of the building of a new block, together with the upgrading of existing facilities such as the Computer Laboratories. Other additions including a bitumen track, an amphitheatre and an ecogarden with study corners. Two major events were staged- a Fund-raising Dinner and Singathon- in order to fulfill the school's vowed aim of creating effective learning environments for our students. 1993 The learning environment was further enhanced by the renovation and extension of the school building. A sixth Science Laboratory, a new Language Laboratory, a new Music Room and 2 more Computer Laboratories were added. The new block named Clementi Block was completed and CTSS went single session in Term III. The staff camp was held at the Royal Holiday Inn Crown Plaza on 4th September. By the end of December, the school would have a new canteen, multi-purpose courts, training track and field. The CTSS band and choir also created history for the school through their participation in the First Music Exchange with Thai students in Bangkok from 5 to 11 December. 1994 1994 marked the opening of the Clementi Block by the Member of Parliament Mr. Bernard Chen, on our 14th Speech Day through a multimedia presentation. This year, we had a return visit in June by the Saint John's College choir from Bangkok. They had been invited to perform at the Singapore Festival of Arts Fringe. The Perak delegates also visited our school in July. The staff camp was held a Boulevard Hotel on 3 September. 1995 Mrs. Virginia Cheng was appointed as Senior Inspector of Schools (Secondary). Mdm. Ann Phua joined CTSS as the Principal on 2 February. The school was selected to be one of the six schools involved in the pilot project of the Student Teacher Workbench to be launched in 1996. CTSS received a silver award for the Trim and Fit Scheme. The 'B' Boys team received a Merit Award by coming in third in the National School Track and Field Championships. The value-added Award 1995 (Normal Academic Course) of $10,000 for the commendable performance in the 1994 GCE "N" Level Examinations was presented to the school by the Minister of Education, Mr. Lee Yock Suan, at the Principals' Conference on 4 September. The CTSS Choir participated in the Cultural Exchange Programme in Hong Kong and Bangkok from 6 to 12 December.

The Staff Camp was held at Pasir Ris Resort on 22 June.

The landscaped corner, 'Reflections' and the Lions' Study Corner, 'Aspirations', were completed and declared open by Mrs. Virginia Cheng, the Guest-of-Honour on our 15th Speech Day on 29 July.

1996 

Student-Teacher Workbench was introduced in January to all Secondary One Clementeens. We have been consequently exposed to multimedia instruction in Science and granted access to the Internet or E-mail. The NCC Unit was ranked 2nd in the West District and 6th position on the National Level, and obtained the Gold Award. The Scout Unit was awarded the Frank Sands Good Troop Award in April. The Leo Club was awarded the Leo Club Top Performance Award. The 'B' Division Boys came in 4th at the 37th National Track and Field Championships. The physical environment was further enhanced by the completion of the SAC study landscaped corner "Optimism" which was declared open by Mr. Bernard Chen, MP for Brickworks GRC, on the 16th Annual Speech Day and two colourful murals with quotations completed on 28 July. The Staff Workshop entitles "Enhancing Personal Excellence" was held on 22 June in the school. The school was selected to be on of the 10 secondary schools in the IT Masterplan of Technology Schools. 1997 Mrs. Lim Thian Loke was appointed Principal of the school. The year saw the introduction of National Education into the formal and informal curriculum. In addition, the IT Masterplan was launched and IT was used as a means to enhance the teaching-learning process. CTSS received the Silver Award for the Trim & Fit Scheme again. In the Singapore Youth Festival, the Chinese Dance Group, CTSS Symphonic Band and School Choir won the Silver Award. The Scouts were awarded the Frank Cooper Sands Good Unit Award. Our school athletes won awards in the 6th MSSM/WALAA/SSSC Track and Field Championships 1997. In the 4th National Schools Ten Pin Bowling Championships, our 'B' Division boys were given a few awards. The NCC unit won the Gold award for the second year. 1998 Clementi Town Secondary School held its IT Open House on 4th April to showcase its progress and achievements made in the infusion of IT into the curriculum. Teachers from CTSS share their experiences in using IT with schools in phase 2 and phase 3. Parents and the public were also invited to review the students' projects which included the use of this new and exciting technology. The school also launched its webpage which was put together by some of our computer savvy students, with the guidance provided by our teachers. There was also the launch of the community involvement program which aimed at helping our Clementeens to be committed through year round activities. 1999 The school received the Sustained Achievement Award (SAA), which was introduced for the first time by the Ministry of Education. The SAA recognized the commendable achievements of our NCC Cadets and Scouts. All Secondary 2 students were introduced to project work of an inter-disciplinary nature and IT was supplied to facilitate research and presentation. A Youth Club was set up to provide students with meaningful activities and counseling services. A 2-day staff seminar aimed at building teamwork and incorporating the TSLN vision into our school practices was held at Sijori Sentosa on 29 & 30 December.
