Manga page

Name "meanings/origin"

Do you think it would be useful to add some information on the not-so-common names (like Miria, Miata...)? Of course, while trying to find some official/reliable sources and not too much (one sentence for each should do). I thought it could be interesting, since Claymore doesn't seem to have any really invented names, but not sure if other people think the same way :) Minikui 20:46, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Started by adding the origin of Ruvuru/Rubel/Louvre, so you see what it looks like, if nobody complains I'll continue. By the way, according to the japanese wiki, all of the members of the organization are named after some art museum, but don't really know where to add that in the english article Minikui 21:26, 23 May 2007 (UTC)

Sounds good. I didn't know about those museum. I know Japanese Wiki mentioned that Deneb is named after a star. This star appear in some oriental mythology. More apparent references are from Greek mythology: Helen, Galatea, Flora, Cynthis, etc. However, these names are too common to make the meaningful point.

I don't know if this helps much, but the town of Pieta made me think of Michelangelo's Pieta. It says pieta is Italian for compassion. And there's also the Claymore Rafaela. That made me think of the Renaissance painter. As for Deneb/ve, Deneb is a star in the constellation Cygnus.Adolon 06:15, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Sleeping in beds

The fact that Teressa found sleeping in a soft bed uncomfortable doesn't prove anything. Perhaps there was some phyiological reason. Perhaps she just wasn't used to it. Terms used in the English Manga

I based my edits on the published English translation of the manga. However, it is only up to volume 6 and may be slighly bowdlerised. It uses the terms "Awakened ones" and "voracious eaters", which, although technically correct English, are long and awkward phrases. On the other hand, using "Awoken" as a noun is not technically correct English. It would have been better if they had used "the Awakened" and "devourers", but we can't change the past. On the other hand "bulimics" is not only bad English, but is also extremely unscary and makes them sound like the worst they can do is throw up on people. Recent copy edit

Hi all! Just wanted to let you know that I, as a member of the League of Copyeditors, am working on this article. I've done some pretty substantial rearraging of text in the sections above Characters, but all of the information is still there--there were several duplicate sentences in different sections, etc., which I have streamlined. I'm currently working on the Characters section, and am about halfway through (I stopped after Sofia).

Also, please note that putting parenthetical statements, like (deceased), in headings makes it nightmarish to create internal links. I've found an alternative way to list that information, so please don't revert them.

Good Job! One statement of the article I object is "Claymores use "incomplete awakening" to increase their strength.". It may not the statement from you. Any kind of awakening is forbidden by the organization, and it only makes the exception for Alicia and Beth.

The manga will run on the weekly Shounen Jump for awhile, and it is still monthly basis.

Just a suggestion

I would suggest that someone get rid of character sub-sections. It made the Table of Contents huge and it would better follow the guildlines of WP:Anime(Duane543 17:37, 26 February 2007 (UTC))

Generations section moved

I've taken the bold move to move the Generations section (pun intended) to the List of Claymore characters. I'm not sure if the list of generations has any purpose that can not be reconciled by mentioning the generation in each character's profile, but in any case, it most likely belongs on that page together with the profiles. Current vs Total Episodes

I seem to remember there being a consensus that for all anime where the end number of episodes was known, that number would be listed instead of listing the last one aired. ANN (listed as a reliable source on the Project Page) has the series listed for 26 episodes: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/encyclopedia/anime.php?id=7028. Since various other series are already structured this way (Darker than Black, Code Geass, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS, Murder Princess, Kaze no Stigma), I went and changed it. Spoiler Warning

"Articles about fictional characters, objects, or places can be expected to include significant elements of the story. Based on this I think it might be appropriate to do something about this sentence in the Priscilla character description: "As an Awakened being, Priscilla is Isley's companion, and after he fought in the south and she saved him, he works for her." I'm not sure exactly, but it may have something to do with the fact that Monthly Shōnen Jump is now defunct. I'm not sure how the handover of Claymore went to its new magazine. Suggest separation of "Claymore characters"

This page is a bit bogged down with information about the fictional world of Claymore, when the focus of the article should be the series itself. Including more real-world info and separating some of these sections (the aforementioned "Claymore characteristics" section, most certainly) would do a lot to improve the quality of the article. Demographic

Has anyone even watched Claymore, here? It's not Shonen. Shonen is aimed at young boys. Seinen is aimed at and older audience, 16+. Claymore is not Shonen. Crappy shallow stuff like Naruto and Bleach is Shonen. 70.54.1.78 (talk)

Know what anonymous user? I feel you. It's just if we put Seinen instead of Shonen there's a HUGE chance that the publisher will sue this site. Let's stick to the facts. I suggest you to talk to the publisher and Norihiro Yagi and discuss about it. LOL, anyway, the manga can be about whatever, if its a very very bloody manga, but serialized in Weekly Shounen Jump or Jump Square (Monthly Shounen Jump), then it will be a shounen manga. The art style nor the content of the manga matters. These manga will also be published under the Jump Comics imprint, an imprint for boys. You won't find any manga, serialized in any shounen manga magazine by Shueisha to be mentioned as a seinen manga. --ChuChu (talk) 19:08, 5 February 2008 (UTC)

Just compare for exemple: HXH or Samurai Deeper Kyo. => Shonen || Berserk => Seinen. You'll see that your affirmation: "Crappy shallow stuff like Naruto and Bleach is Shonen." isn't true ;).

No source, no reference, no "see also", no external link and a really bad structure . The previous version was really better ! Anyway the present article is only 31 kilobytes long. Viz Manga Censorship?

I read somewhere that Claymore in North America had some censorship issues, though it didn't explain what they were. Could someone enlighten me? Is there actual censorship? If so, are they unimportant little edits or are they Naruto-style edits, completely changing the art or script in places? I do not read scans so I was just curious is anyone knew? Thank You.
