[edit] Father of modern jazz?

Some supporting references for this assertion would be nice...

I'm finding numerous people referred to as "father of modern jazz" with Charlie Parker, Louis Armstrong, and Thelonious Monk being maybe the most common names I found. However several others were called "Father of modern jazz blank" with the blank being some specific instrument like piano or drums. As Bolling does not seem to be referred this way outside of Wikis I'm removing the statement for now.--T. Anthony 15:55, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
