[edit] Fair use rationale for Superman

This image of Clark Kent, Clark-Kent.gif, is being linked here; though the picture is subject to copyright I (Hiding Talk) feel it is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. it is a low resolution copy of a single panel from a single episode of a comic strip story;
  2. it does not limit the copyright owner's rights to sell the comic strip story in any way;
  3. copies could not be used to make illegal copies of the comic strip artwork in another comic strip collection;
  4. the image is significant because it is by the artistic creator, Joe Shuster;
  5. the image illustrates Clark Kent, the alter ego of Superman and as such discussed in the article;
  6. the image illustrates a point made by Jules Feiffer in The Great Comic Book Heroes, (2003) that what "made Superman extraordinary was his point of origin: Clark Kent."
