Clarence Anglin (May 11, 1931 – c. June 11, 1962 or later) was convicted of a number of bank robberies in the 1950s along with his brothers John and Alfred. He is most famous for his escape from Alcatraz prison with John and fellow inmate Frank Morris in 1962.

Anglin was born in Donalsonville, Georgia and worked as a farmer and laborer. By the 1950s he started to rob banks with his brothers and was arrested in 1956. He and his brothers were sent to the Florida State Prison, Atlanta Penitentiary, where he met Allen West and Frank Morris and he was sent to Leavenworth Penitentiary before he was sent to Alcatraz.

Clarence and John were both sent to Alcatraz after being caught attempting escape. John arrived at Alcatraz on October 21, 1960 as Alcatraz inmate AZ1476, and Clarence arrived on January 10, 1961 as Alcatraz inmate AZ1485. By September, 1961, the brothers, along with Morris and West, were planning an elaborate escape attempt.

The escape took place on Tuesday, June 11, 1962. All three subsequently disappeared without trace and are still wanted by the FBI, although they are believed to have drowned in San Francisco Bay. However, postcards from South America signed by the brothers were later put forward as evidence by the family.[citation needed]

He was played in the 1979 movie Escape from Alcatraz by Jack Thibeau.
