Clement-Bayard was situated at the Boulevard de la Saussaye 47 in Neuilly. Between 1899 and 1922 three-wheeled and four wheeled cars were built. The founder, Gustave Adolphe Clément (1855-1928 originally started out by building bicycles and motorcycles. The first car was a three wheeled car powered by a De Dion Bouton engine. Some of the later engines were fitted with one, two or four-cylinder engines. The Clement logo is based on General Pierre du Terrail, Seigneur de Bayard. who defeated the English army in 1521. In 1903, the company was granted permission to use Bayard in their name. In 1922, The company was taken over by Citröen.
