CJ's Elephant Antics is a platform video game, developed by Big Red Software and published by Codemasters for the ZX Spectrum and Commodore 64 in 1991.[1] It was well received when released and so spawned the CJ Elephant series.

[edit] Story
After being captured in Africa, whilst travelling on a plane headed for England turbulence hits causing CJ's cage to open, he grabs a nearby umbrella and leaps out of the airplane whilst somewhere over France. After landing CJ realises he will have to make his way back home to Africa on foot.
[edit] Gameplay
CJ's Elephant Antics is a typical platform game of its era, though it does have a much more vertical slant than many others of its time and much of the game focuses on jumping from small platform to small platform. CJ can jump by pushing up, has an unlimited amount of peanuts he can fire as projectiles, and a limited amount of bombs thrown by pressing down on the controller.

Elephant Antics has a total of four levels, there are boss fights at the end of each level. In the Commodore version there was a bike riding bonus stage between levels which was missing from the Spectrum version. The levels are all countries that CJ must traverse to reach home, the levels are France, Switzerland, Egypt, and finally Africa.

Elephant Antics achieved favourable reviews on release receiving a Raze 93%, 85% from Your Sinclair, and 8/10 from Crash Magazine.
Like many platformers of this era there are inherent problems in keeping both players on screen at once, CJ deals with this by only scrolling with player 1, and killing player 2 every time he leaves the screen, Instead of solving problems this system only makes things worse and forces the players to move carefully in synchronization at all times in the game.
