Named used in legislation is 'City of St Albans', so it is the district that has the status of the city. [1] has "[2] The non-metropolitan district of St Albans has the status of a City." Morwen - Talk 10:21, 5 October 2005 (UTC)

The council however calls itself St Albans District Council, although council vehicles, letterhead and website bear the brand St Albans City & District.

This line doesn't make sense. Does the council *call* itself "St Albans District Council"? No, it calls itself by the brand "St Albans City & District". What is its official legislative title? "City of St Albans". So where does the term "St Albans District Council" come from, and is it used at all? DWaterson 13:25, 10 February 2006 (UTC)

if st albans population is around 50,000, firstly sources are needed to substantiate this, and second the population needs to be changed in the 'st albans' article to this figure, as that article refers to the city alone and NOT the district as a whole. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tescoid (talk • contribs) 10:19, 5 April 2007 (UTC).

You are quite right. The figure in St Albans is incorrect since it refers to St Albans District. The source used for the District also has the ward level data which, anyone who has a few moments to spare can add up to estimate the population for St Albans proper. I wonder if anyone has done that and even noted that a precise figure is unavailable since they were able to use their local knowledge to spot that a couple of wards cover small-ish areas which are not part of the contiguous built up are of St Albans (Sandridge being a case in point, covering the village of Sandridge and part of the Jersey Farm area with St Albans and some empty space in between).
